Leslie McHugh started her professional career in the field of nursing. She became a licensed registered nurse in 1980, and worked for five years in three Boston-based hospitals, including Massachusetts General Hospital, New England Deaconess Hospital, and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. While in law school, Ms. McHugh worked with a plaintiff’s firm specializing in medical malpractice litigation. Her experience and familiarity with medical issues and the health care system have provided a solid basis for her current career responsibilities. Since graduation from law school, Ms. McHugh has continued to forge a career focused heavily on medical and health care litigation, becoming involved in the defense of two major pharmaceutical companies (i.e. Merrell Dow and Burroughs Wellcome) in DES products liability litigation. Ms. McHugh has also managed the defense of medical malpractice cases, and medical products liability, including contact lenses, breast implants, and L-Tryptophan, the latter two being “mass tort litigation.” Ms. McHugh continues to handle professional malpractice including the defense of attorneys, accountants and health professionals, as well as general liability, construction accidents, medical products and equipment claims, and other premises liability, and litigation.
